How might we frame situations, and come to fully see them and their challenges and opportunities?
This workshop helps participants see their experiences in a fuller way, explore the experiences of others, and generate opportunities to better support each other. This workshop is customizable for a variety of experiences and can help participants reflect on what they learned and take actions to improve their experiences in the future. Participants will be guided through creating their own experience map and sharing with collaborators.
This workshop is especially valuable for reflection-based courses such as internships, study abroad, service-learning, and capstone experiences, as well as leadership programs and student organizations. Classes or groups focused on collaboration, personal growth, or improving team dynamics鈥攕uch as cohort-based programs, peer mentor groups, and campus employment teams鈥攚ould benefit from mapping experiences and identifying opportunities for growth.
In this session we will be covering the following topics/strategies:
- What experience mapping is and why it’s useful.
- What experience mapping looks like.
- A hands on exercise applying design thinking to the creation of an experience map.
- Collaborative and individual reflection and future planning.
