Yasmine Arrington competes next August in Seattle on a platform of mentoring and supporting children of incarcerated parents.

Arrington will represent the District of Columbia in a contest that takes place from Aug. 12-15, 2015, in Seattle. Her platform is mentoring and support for children of incarcerated parents.
The strategic communications and history double major from Washington, D.C., founded , which provides scholarships and mentoring to high school seniors who are pursuing a college degree but whose parents are in prison.
Arrington is coached by Camille France, formally Miss Camille Lewis, who was fourth-runner up in the Miss America 2003 competition. France taught music to Arrington when the Elon student was in high school.
According to its website, Miss Plus USofA is a national competition for unmarried women, who wear a double-digit size, with a mission “to provide a platform and opportunity for the average size woman through tasteful competition, requiring a healthy lifestyle, class, eloquence and volunteerism.“
