Six attorneys representing a range of practice areas are the newest additions to an advisory board that has helped shape 51������ School of Law’s strategic vision and growth in national stature.

All six additions are 51������ graduates: two earned their undergraduate degrees prior to the School of Law’s establishment, three earned their law degrees in more recent years, and one is an alumnus of both programs

51������ School of Law Advisory Board is chaired by David Gergen, a former adviser to four United States presidents and founding director of the Center for Public Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School.

“It’s impossible to overstate the value these impressive Elon graduates will bring to the School of Law’s advisory board,” said Elon Law Dean Zak Kramer. “As successful practitioners and leaders in their respective areas, the breadth and depth of their insights will help us build new relationships in the profession while staying focused on providing today’s students with a superior legal education rooted in practical training and experiential learning.”

Hayleigh R. Carroll L’20
Greensboro, North Carolina
Assistant District Attorney, Guilford County District Attorney’s Office

Hayleigh R. Carroll was born and raised in Greensboro and honorably serves the citizens of her hometown as an assistant district attorney. She attended Wake Forest University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2017 before earning her Juris Doctor from Elon Law in 2020. During her studies, she completed internships in the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office and the Guilford County District Court, and she completed her residency-in-practice in the Guilford County District Attorney’s Office. Carroll was hired by the Guilford County DA’s Office the day after passing the bar exam and has remained there since. Her passion for victims and justice is echoed through her service on the Board of Trustees of Family Service of Greensboro Foundation. Carroll resides in Greensboro with her partner, Gregory, and their Pomeranian.

Andy Jones L’13

Managing Partner, N.C., Michael Best & Friedrich LLP

Andrew “Andy” Jones serves as North Carolina Managing Partner for Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, and focuses his legal practice primarily in the areas of corporate transactions and dispute resolution. A 2010 graduate of Davidson College, Jones graduated magna cum laude from Elon Law in 2013 after distinguishing himself as a Leadership Fellow, a member of the Elon Law Review, and a member of the Moot Court Board. Jones started his legal career with Rountree Losee LLP, and later served as president of Forrest Firm, a full-service law firm with over 50 employees and offices throughout North Carolina. Michael Best acquired Forrest Firm in early 2022.

Aaron Menser ’01
Wake Forest, North Carolina
Senior Vice President – Sales & Operations, Autopart International

Aaron Menser has worked for over 13 years with Advance Auto Parts and its subsidiaries, and he currently serves as senior vice president of sales and operations for Autopart International, one of AAP’s companies. Throughout his tenure with AAP, Menser has held corporate legal counsel, human resources and now sales/operational roles with the North American corporation headquartered in Raleigh. Menser studied political science at Elon before earning his law degree in 2004 from Emory University. He started his legal career as an associate at Littler Mendelson, PC in Charlotte, before joining AGC America, a U.S. holding company for Asahi Glass Co., Ltd., a Japanese global glass manufacturing company. After AGC, Menser moved to Raleigh to become assistant general counsel of General Parts International, which was subsequently acquired by AAP.

Rose Cordero Prey ’01
Princeton, New Jersey
Shareholder, Greenberg Traurig, LLP

Rose Cordero Prey is an intellectual property lawyer with a career focused for over 15 years on hi-tech, fintech and bio tech patent litigation, licensing, and portfolio management. She studied mathematics and physics at 51������ before earning her law degree from UNC Chapel Hill. She joined Greenberg Traurig in 2019 as a shareholder and has served as a Fellow of the Leadership Counsel on Legal Diversity, an organization devoted to improving diversity in the legal profession. In 2020, she was admitted to the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Latina Executive Leadership Program, a professional development and leadership training program for the advancement and long-term success of Latina lawyers. Prey recently was appointed to the Board of Visitors for UNC Chapel Hill, Class of 2027

Nathan Standley L’11
Holly Springs, N.C.
Senior Vice President & Director of Privacy, State Employees’ Credit Union

Nathan Standley serves as senior vice president and director of privacy at State Employees’ Credit Union in Raleigh, North Carolina. At SECU, he previously served as associate general counsel and head of the SECU Contracts Office. He studied business administration and political science at N.C. State University, then worked at Capital One before enrolling at Elon Law and earning recognition on the Elon Law Review and the Moot Court Board. After his law school graduation in 2011, Standley spent more than seven years as an attorney and director at Allen & Pinnix, P.A. where he counseled clients on antitrust, privacy, corporate, and professional licensing matters. In 2018, Standley was one of the first attorneys in North Carolina to be certified as a specialist in privacy and data security law by the North Carolina State Bar.

Jordan Thompson ’14 L’Dec.’17

Legal Counsel, TikTok

A double alumnus of 51������, Jordan Thompson currently works in New York City as legal counsel with TikTok. Thompson, a member of Kappa Alpha Psi and a defensive back for the Elon Phoenix football team, graduated from Elon in 2014 with a degree in political science. He returned to Elon Law as a Leadership Fellow and member of the first class to complete the school’s 2.5-year, seven-trimester program, which included a residency-in-practice with the NFL’s Washington Commanders. After graduating from law school, Thompson joined the sports law and global litigation groups at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP. Thereafter, he served as the assistant general counsel and an agent at one of Forbes’ most valuable sports agencies.
