Assistant Director of Residence Life for the Danieley Center, Becca McQueen, was chosen as the Advisor of the Month by NACURH for the month of December. The Danieley Center Residence Life Staff was also recognized for a program that the group planned in December. Their “Free Hugs from Danieley Center” event was selected as the Social Program of the Month by NACURH.

Of the Month awards or OTMs can be written by any member of the Elon student or faculty bodies. The Elon Campus Selection Committee selects one winner for each of the different categories each month and the campus winners are sent to regional level. Winners from the regional level are sent to the national level. In the past four months, Elon has received one regional honorable mention, eight regional wins, and three national wins. At the end of November, Elon was in seventh place in the regional OTM point standings.

An Of the Month (aka OTM) is a form of recognition that is written by students and faculty at Elon. OTMs are a great way to recognize an organization, a student or a great program from the past month. OTMs are due by 5 p.m. on the 5th of every month to Sarah VanKuiken at svankuiken@elon.edu.

For every OTM that you write and submit to Sarah VanKuiken, your name will be entered into a semester long drawing for a chance to win a fifty dollar gift card to a local restaurant or store. Make sure to submit an OTM today and recognize a great event or a person that is helping to make the Elon community and campus a better place.

There are two different OTM forms. One form is for the four program categories (Social, Educational, Diversity, and Community Service). The other form is for Advisor, Executive Member, Student, New Student, Community, Organization, Spotlight, and Resident Assistant.

If you have any questions about how to write an OTM, please contact Bonnie Brackett at bbrackett2@elon.edu or Liesl Klotzbach at lklotzbach@elon.edu.

Here are the OTM winners for October:

Social Program of the Month – Mr. Staley (Staley Res. Life Staff)
