Bryan Hedrick, lecturer in wellness

Lecturer Bryan Hedrick of the Department of Education and Wellness hosted the annual meeting/workshop of the North Carolina Higher Education Physical Activity and Wellness Course Instructors and Coordinators on Oct. 25.

There were 25 attendees representing various colleges and universities. Topics during the six-hour session included on-line course development, innovative instruction, trends, and best practices.

Bryan Hedrick, lecturer in the Department of Education and Wellness presented on Nov. 1, 2018, at the North Carolina Alliance for Athletics, Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Dance, and Sport Management (NCAAHPERD-SM) annual State Convention held in Winston-Salem. 

Hedrick’s session was entitled “A Can’t-Miss Introductory Activity for the Health Classroom.” He provided participants with a powerful activity that connects students to different dimensions of wellness and creates a positive classroom environment.  

There were over 800 attendees at this year’s convention, comprised primarily of K – 12 public school educators.

The first presentation was titled: Sport Success in Three Easy Steps and was offered on Friday, Nov. 11. This session encouraged coaches and physical eduction teachers to simplify their approach for maximum effectiveness. Participants learned basic concepts that apply to all sports.

The second presentation was titled: The Pleasure Principle: The Biochemistry of Choice and was offered on Saturday, Nov. 12. This session was designeded to challenge perceptions and explain why people make good and bad choices.  The session provided a foundation for courses on drugs and wellness.
