Elon’s Women’s Club Ultimate Frisbee team, Wild Rumpus, has been featured #12 in skyd magazine’s division III preseason power rankings.

Elon’s Wild Rumpus has done well this fall season, consistently beating the D-III teams in its section. Due to the small size of the region, if they continue to be as successful as they are currently, they will again win their region’s bid to the 2014 Championships.

Keep an eye out for senior Maureen Dougherty, who is a constant threat on both defense and offense. Also, expect to see Julie Rodriguez as a key cutter on Wild Rumpus.

Women's Club Rugby wins season opener against UNC Charlotte /u/news/2014/02/10/womens-club-rugby-wins-season-opener-against-unc-charlotte/ Mon, 10 Feb 2014 18:05:00 +0000 /u/news/2014/02/10/womens-club-rugby-wins-season-opener-against-unc-charlotte/ Elon Women’s Club Rugby came back stronger than ever, beating UNC Charlotte in the first game of the season 48-5!

Today EWR brought their all, scoring 8 tries to Charlotte’s 1. Four of those tries were by Smurf (Lauren Sheridan), who also scored two of Elon’s conversion kicks. It’s no surprise Smurf was named Scrum Player of the Game! Two tries were by Natty Light (Natalie McCarthy), who killed it on the field as a winger! One try was by B-Graham (Brittany Graham) and another by Mandy Fiery! The other two conversion kicks were by KP (Katie Pullman)! The Backline Player of the Game was awarded to Merit Sharpe, who did a great job of supporting her teammates and switching positions throughout the game!

Another star performance was rookie Darrah O’Flaherty, who threw herself into tackles with confidence!  Overall, it was a wonderful team performance. EWR would like to thank Coach Katie for coming to her first EWR game and coaching us throughout! We would also like to thank the sir, the fans, and Charlotte!

Catch EWR next Saturday when we head to UNC Wilmington!
