It is called a coastal temperate forest and comes from the shadows of the tallest coastal mountain range in the world. In fact, this forest contains redwoods that used to stretch from Alaska down to California and some of the trees are hundreds of years old.

Unfortunately, it might disappear.

And, if you find that interesting, then perhaps Sierra Club is for you. Sierra Club is Elon’s Environmental group on campus and is a great opportunity for students who are interested in helping the environment to become more involved. You do not need to be an environmental studies major to join.
