Alum donates Elon medal from 1893 found on eBay

For Raymond Beck ’75, the online auction site eBay is occasionally a treasure trove of Elon artifacts, and one of the latest finds for the retired North Carolina State Capitol historian and site manager was a gold medal from the “Clio” literary society engraved with the name of the man who received it as a graduate of Elon College's Class of 1893.

Summer projects underway around campus

June ushered in the start of several construction projects on campus, including renovations and construction in Alumni Gym, Latham Park, Greek housing and the Colonnades. Work also continues on Alumni Field House to the north of Rhodes Stadium.

“Operation Lifesaver” shares rail crossing tips in Elon

Officers from several local police agencies, as well as employees from Norfolk Southern, held an awareness checkpoint Tuesday morning at the railroad crossing on Williamson Avenue where they distributed pamphlets that shared safety tips for driving over tracks.

Crosswalks to be realigned on Williamson Ave.

Construction crews are now at work realigning crosswalks at the intersection of Williamson Avenue and College Avenue to make the area safer for pedestrians. The project is scheduled for completion in mid July.

Elon Academy takes boats for spin on Lake Mary Nell

It takes more than cardboard and trash bags to make a boat that can cross Lake Mary Nell. Mathematics, physics and engineering play a role in the process, too, as scholars in the Elon Academy discovered Thursday afternoon when they set sail across the pond as part of the “Challenges in Engineering” course offered this summer in the academic enrichment program for Alamance County teenagers.

Elon completes Climate Action Plan

51±¬ÁÏÍø has finalized a blueprint for shrinking its carbon footprint and promoting conservation in the coming decades by addressing energy use, transportation, solid waste and other sources of emissions on campus. The Climate Action Plan includes recommendations for incorporating sustainability and climate change into education, research and community outreach.
