NYC Chapter Tunnels To Towers Charity Race, Sept. 26

Join the NYC Alumni Chapter for the Tunnels to Towers charity 5K on Sunday, Sept. 26 at 9:30 a.m. The race starts at the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel in NYC. In order to arrive at the race on time you must be on the last ferry leaving at 8 a.m.. Boats leaving from Pier 11 at the South Street Seaport will drop you at the startline. Be sure to meet up with the Elon group in Coffey Park and wear your ELON gear.

Register online before Sept. 22 at . There is a $50 registration fee before Sept. 22 and a $60 fee if you register after that date. All children under the age of 12 are free.

Proceeds from the race benefit The Stephen Siller, FDNY, ‘Let Us Do Good’ Children’s Foundation which was created to serve the needs of children who have lost one or more parents. The Foundation sponsors educational scholarships, counseling, financial support and other related activities in an effort to bring hope and healing to these children. The Foundation honors the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, FDNY, who lost both his parents by the time he was 10 years old. It is a non-profit organization.

The sole purpose of our Foundation is to honor the legacy of love given to us by Stephen Siller, FDNY. We do this by paying tribute to his heroic life and death, his 342 FDNY brothers, and all those lost on 9/11, through the annual Tunnel To Towers Run. We support the Pediatric Unit of the NYC Firefighter Burn Center and burn centers throughout the nation. We strive to help children who have lost one or both parents through local community awards and contributions to organizations with a like mission.

DC Chapter Wine Tasting and Tour, Oct. 10

The Philip Carter Winery, owned by Philip Strother ’91, is hosting a Wine 101 and exclusive wine tasting for alumni on Sunday, Oct. 10, from 2-4:30 p.m. The event will provide an education on wine making basics, the different types of wine and guided tours of the facilities of their winery plus a private wine tasting consisting of 10 different wines followed by a glass of your favorite. Gourmet Virginia cheeses and crackers will be provide during the tasting.

Motorcoach transportation will be provided from the Vienna Metro station. Alumni should check-in on the bus no later than 12:45 p.m. as the bus will leave at 1 p.m. from Vienna station, on the south side of I-66 near the “Kiss & Ride.” Alumni will return to the parking lot at 5:30 p.m.

Admission is limited to 50 people. Tickets, including bus transportation, are $40 per person. Bus registration will close Oct. 1. If you’d like to attend but don’t want to take the bus, tickets are $30 per person.

Join Triangle Alumni on Thursday, July 22 for a Durham Bulls game at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Bulls will take on the Columbus Clippers at 7:05 p.m.

This year we’ll be celebrating on the rooftop garden of The Delancey Bar & Nightclub on the Lower East Side on Thursday, August 26th. The event starts at 7 p.m. and we’ll be serving appetizers and a cash bar will be provided. Entrance to the event is $5 per person.
