Fels also currently has a one-person show of sculptures that will be on exhibit for 1 year in the sculpture garden of the well-known Scarab Club Gallery in Detroit, Michigan. The Scarab Club Gallery is the state’s most historic art venue. Since the gallery’s founding in 1907, the Scarab Club continues to be a driving force in the artistic community and serves as a cultural stimulant for artistic diversity in the 21st century.

The &Now Festival is a biennial conference that explores intersections between creative and critical praxis, examines innovative and experimental acts of writing, and advances a serious inquiry into theories of language and consciousness.

The conference was at UC San Diego and Center For Research and Computing in the Arts, which is equally well known for its support of digital and inter-media arts.

Ringelberg to present paper in Ireland /u/news/2005/04/21/ringelberg-to-present-paper-in-ireland/ Thu, 21 Apr 2005 16:35:00 +0000 /u/news/2005/04/21/ringelberg-to-present-paper-in-ireland/ This weekend, Kirstin Ringelberg of the Art Department will present a paper at a conference at University College Cork, Ireland.  The conference, “Representations of Pain,” is part of a series of annual conferences on specific topics held as part of the interdisciplinary, trans-cultural degree program the University calls “Image History.” The goal of the conferences is to bring together a select number of scholars from Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas to consider visual representations in a focused, dialogic manner. Ringelberg’s paper, entitled “The Faked Pain of the Artist: Empathy or Sympathy, Compassion or Concealment?” is one of 15 to be delivered at the 3-day conference, which ends with a recorded round-table discussion by all the speakers.
