Residence Hall Closing for Winter Break /u/news/2009/12/08/residence-hall-closing-for-winter-break/ Tue, 08 Dec 2009 19:44:00 +0000 /u/news/2009/12/08/residence-hall-closing-for-winter-break/ 1. All residence halls and houses close at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16. All electrical cords, including aquariums, must be unplugged. You will not need to unplug your refrigerator but be sure to remove any perishable food items. Close and lock windows, close blinds/drapes, turn off lights, empty trash in designated area, remove all personal items from the floor, lock your bedroom door (don’t forget your keys!), and take your valuables home. Set heater thermostat to low heat or a low setting-approx. 68 degrees.

2. All students must depart the residence halls and houses 24 hours after their last exam.

3. If you are graduating, withdrawing, or leaving for Study Abroad and not returning winter and spring terms you must remove your belongings and turn in your key 24 hours after your last exam. Make sure to schedule a checkout time with your RA, HA, or House Manager a day before you depart.

4. If your roommate is not returning or you are currently without a roommate, please make sure that the bed, closet, desk and dresser space is cleared for your new roommate. Residence life staff and physical plant will be around to check the space.

5. All residence halls and houses will re-open on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010 at 2 p.m. for students enrolled in winter term classes. Remember, you must be enrolled in winter term classes in order to live in campus housing during this time.

6. Once the residence halls close all exterior entrance doors will be inaccessible. Combinations will be changed and plugs will be inserted into the lock to deny access to students prior to opening. If at any time you find it necessary to get into your room prior to the January 3rd opening, your request will have to be approved by the Residence Life Main Office and a $50.00 entrance fee will need to be paid before entry.

Phase II of Housing Selection for seniors and juniors start this week /u/news/2009/03/04/phase-ii-of-housing-selection-for-seniors-and-juniors-start-this-week/ Wed, 04 Mar 2009 19:08:00 +0000 /u/news/2009/03/04/phase-ii-of-housing-selection-for-seniors-and-juniors-start-this-week/ Phase II of Housing Selection for Juniors and Seniors starts this week!

Applications are available online at 4pm. They are due by 12pm on Sunday the 8th.

Be sure you have paid your $200 housing reservation fee through the bursar’s office or you will not be able to apply!

  • To determine priority order in applying for housing During Phase Two all students will be given a housing priority number. This number is based on cumulative GPA and your years in housing (you received one point for each semester lived on campus). Your individual number determines what time you are eligible to log on to Ontrack to complete the housing application. The higher your number the earlier you are eligible to begin. To view the schedule, click here beginning February 16, 2009.To learn what your housing priority number is, log on to Ontrack after February 16 and click the link for the eligibility page.
  • When it is your time to apply, one member of your team will login to Ontrack (this must be a team member whose individual housing priority number makes them eligible for that time period). When you log on you will input the Datatel numbers of your entire group. Based on your group size you will be shown a complete list of all CURRENTLY AVAILABLE buildings. If a building has been filled prior to your application time, it will not be shown.
  • You will then select from the list shown which building you want your group to live in. Once you select the building and click submit, you are guaranteed this building for your final assignment. A specific room/suite/flat/apartment will be assigned shortly after the application period ends and will be posted on Ontrack.

Please note the following information on Group Size Minimums!

Located below are all the possible group sizes. Beside each group size is a list of all possible housing options for that particular size. If you want to live in a specific building, you must make sure you have the correct number of people in your group to be eligible.

For Residence Halls Only: Please be aware that if you meet the group minimum but do not fill that space completley, you will be assigned with one or more other groups. For instance, if you are in a group of four and select the Danieley Flats for your housing, then you will be placed in an eight person flat with another group of four or possibly two groups of two. We make every effort to place returning students with other returning students and incoming fresmen with other incoming freshmen, but is not always possible.

For Apartments and Colonnades Pods Only: If applying for apartments or pods, you must have the exact number of people to match the number of spaces in the apartment or pod. No more, no less.
