Communications Internship Showcase & ePortfolio Review – Feb. 12

GET CONNECTED! The School of Communications will present its Internship Showcase & ePortfolio Review on Feb. 12 in Snow Atrium in Schar Hall.

Great opportunity to practice your interviewing skills, get resumes’ reviewed and to obtain internships and post-grad fellowships.

Employers such as The Daily Press/Virginian-Pilot, WRAL-TV, Seacrest Studios, McKinney, LabCorp, American City Business Journals, Insight Global and more will be talking to students to fill their internship and fellowship positions.

Students can also sign up for critiques of their ePortfolios and resumes soon at the Elon Job Network.

Summer Student Assistant Needed for COM Internship Office

The School of Communications Internship Office is searching for a student Internship assistant this summer to manage communication with students, maintain social media and help plan events for the Internship Office. Attention to detail is very important for data entry tasks.

Communications employers to share job, internship and fellowship opportunities at Feb. 16 showcase

APCO Worldwide, McKinney Advertising, Trailblazers Studios, The Herald-Sun, Myriad Media, Capstrat, WGHP-TV, WCHL-FM, Redeye Worldwide, Wildfire and Erwin Penland are just a few of the 35 companies that will be participating in the Communications Internship / Career Showcase on Thursday, Feb. 16 in the Snow Family Grand Atrium at Schar Hall.

This is an opportunity for students to learn about internship and job opportunities, practice their networking and interviewing skills, get career advice and resume critiques, and win great prizes.

The Communications organization with the most attendees (based on percentage of members) will earn $100. In addition, attendees will be eligible to win an iPad mini and a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card.

School of Communications Internship Prep Seminars to begin soon

Two seminars, “Professesional Practices for A Successful Internship” and “Winning ePortfolios,” will be offered to first academic interns in the School of Communications beginning Friday, March 10.

All students who are planning their first COM academic internship are required to attend the two internship prep seminars (exception: Elon in L.A. participants). Seminars will be for summer and fall internships, and held again in April and May. School of Communications students should also attend if they will be studying abroad in the fall and planning a winter or spring internship. Seminars will be held again in the fall for winter and spring internships.

COM Internship Office Student Assistant Wanted

The School of Communications Internship Office is in search of a Student Assistant for the 2015-16 academic year to help plan events, market the Internship Office, and work with the internship director in assisting students with applying, researching and registering for communications internships. Student worker will hold between 8-15 office hours per week. Student should be at least a junior communications major with previous internship experience and strong written and oral communication skills. Good special event marketing and design skills are also preferred. Microsoft Office Excel and Adobe proficiency is desired. This is a paid student worker position.
