Would you like to learn about the various careers in these industries? On Thursday, March 10, come to the Koury Business Center’s LaRose Digital Theatre (KOBC 101) to speak with and listen to three people from sport and event management fields.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a meet-and-greet with the panel followed by their presentations and a question-and-answer session at 7 p.m. The three speakers are Kristin Kuliga, Alison Mangini and Erin McEvoy.

Kristin Kuliga is the founder of K Sports & Entertainment/Atlus, a management and marketing firm for athletes and celebrities. She was the first female agent to represent a major NFL player, former quarterback Doug Flutie. 

Alison Mangini is an Elon alumna who works for Octagon Sports Marketing, one of the premier sports and entertainment marketing firms in the country. She specializes in marketing and planning events for the PGA. 

Erin McEvoy, also an Elon alumna, works for the Boston Bruins of the NHL. She is the foundation coordinator for the Boston Bruins. She works specifically for the Boston Urban Youth Foundation.

This event is a great chance to network with people in the sports, event, and entertainment industry. Everyone is welcome so come and learn about the sports and events industry.

Face Off For Autism – Elon Men’s Club Lacrosse Tournament Feb. 26-27 /u/news/2011/02/01/face-off-for-autism-elon-mens-club-lacrosse-tournament-feb-26-27/ Tue, 01 Feb 2011 19:00:00 +0000 /u/news/2011/02/01/face-off-for-autism-elon-mens-club-lacrosse-tournament-feb-26-27/ Premier Sport and Event Society and the Elon men’s club lacrosse team will be hosting a four-team tournament over the weekend of February 26-27. Joining Elon in the tournament will be the club teams from UNC-Charlotte, University of St. Thomas, and the University of Dayton. Games will be played at Rhodes Stadium on February 26th between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. with student tickets costing $2 and general admission costing $5. Games on February 27th will be played at the intramural fields at South Campus. The proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Autism Society of North Carolina.

 

The tournament is comprised of nationally ranked club teams and will offer high intensity lacrosse action. The tournament will be in round robin format, with each team facing each other once, with the team with the best record being crowned as champion. Come out and support the Elon lacrosse team and the Autism Society of North Carolina!

Premier Sport and Event Society Meeting – Sept. 13 /u/news/2010/09/09/premier-sport-and-event-society-meeting-sept-13/ Thu, 09 Sep 2010 12:54:00 +0000 /u/news/2010/09/09/premier-sport-and-event-society-meeting-sept-13/ Premier Sport and Event Society is a student organization for students interested in the sport industry and/or event planning or anyone who might like to learn about either industry. Our first meeting is on Monday, September 13 in Lindner Hall in room 208. Premier Sport and Event Society brings speakers to campus related to the industry and also hosts events on campus. 

Past speakers have been Buster Olney of ESPN and David Beahm, a successful event planner in NYC. We also have socials such as attending minor league baseball games and other regional sporting events.

Home Run Derby to support youth program on April 27 /u/news/2010/04/18/home-run-derby-to-support-youth-program-on-april-27/ Sun, 18 Apr 2010 12:50:00 +0000 /u/news/2010/04/18/home-run-derby-to-support-youth-program-on-april-27/ LSM 227 will hold “Going Yard for Youth,” a Home Run Derby to support the Boys and Girls Club of Burlington on Tuesday, April 27. Registration is $10. Participants can sign up at tables in Moseley between Monday, April 19, and Monday, April 26.

There will be prizes for winners and food will be sold at the event (Phoenix Cash accepted).  All proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Burlington. 

When: SURF DAY, Tuesday, April 27

Times: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Where: Softball field near East Gym
