Four Physics Department members attended and presented at the Summer 2015 National AAPT Meeting, July 24-29, at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD.

Dr. Julie Celona-VanGorden, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music, will sing her Greensboro opera debut as Clorinda in Rossini's La Cenerentola.  Performances will be August 28 and 30th.  

Dave Powell presented a paper co-authored with Joel Hollingsworth titled "Improving a Computer Science I Course with Flipped Instruction and Faculty Guides" at The 2015 International Conference on Frontiers in Education: Computer Science and Computer Engineering held from July 27-30, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

 

As part of her Plank Center Educators Fellowship, the assistant professor of communications visited H+K Strategies in Tampa, Florida, interviewing employees, participating in internal and external meetings, and attending a digital/social media boot camp.

The School of Communications assistant professor authored a guest blog for the Arthur W. Page Center for Integrity in Public Communication, discussing her research and how public relations professionals can enhance media relationships in times of crisis.

The dangers of growing secrecy in government, for instance new North Carolina legislation to keep death penalty chemical compounds confidential from the public, forms the focus of Elon Law Professor David Levine's latest blog post for Princeton University's Center for Information Technology Policy (CITP).

The associate professor’s article examines the historical role of the Federal Trade Commission in regulating deceptive weight-loss advertising. 

The associate professor of environmental studies and biology was awarded a one-year grant for $25,000 to develop a regional network of locally produced foods.

Dave Gammon, associate professor in biology, recently gave an oral presentation in Nova Scotia at the joint research meetings for the Wilson Ornithological Society, Society of Canadian Ornithologists, and Association of Field Ornithologists. 

Dozens of professors representing 20 colleges and universities returned to campus July 26-31 for the second year of a three-year research seminar hosted by Elon’s Center for Engaged Learning.
