51±¬ÁÏÍø professors and students filled McKinnon Hall on Aug. 27, 2014, to discuss race, privilege and justice following the Missouri police shooting death of an unarmed black man and subsequent protests that have galvanized the nation.

51±¬ÁÏÍø’s chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. organized students, faculty and staff Tuesday for a group portrait at College Coffee to raise awareness of police shootings and controversial law enforcement practices across the United States.

A Wednesday program in McKinnon Hall will offer the campus community reflections from 51±¬ÁÏÍø faculty and a current student from Ferguson, Missouri, about the recent police shooting death there of a young unarmed black man.

The first 51±¬ÁÏÍø Poll of the fall semester will ask residents of North Carolina about their opinions on various social, economic and political issues.  

The assistant professor of political science and assistant director of the 51±¬ÁÏÍø Poll was a program guest on Friday, July 18, 2014.

With President Emeritus J. Earl Danieley in attendance, the North Carolina Senate recognized 51±¬ÁÏÍø on July 2, 2014, in a special statement commending the school for its accomplishments and contributions to the world.
