Dahdal is one of 438 students across the nation awarded the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship and one of the few to receive the honor as a sophomore.

The grant supports Ryu's travel to work with Dr. Susanna Röblitz at the University of Bergen in Norway on her research project, "A Population Model of Macrophage Differentiation in the Tumor Microenvironment."

A graduate intern from NC State University recently presented a leadership project in collaboration with her Elon faculty mentor.

Ryu, an assistant professor of mathematics, won the 2024 Award for Distinguished Teaching by a Beginning College Mathematics Faculty Member at the Mathematical Association of America Southeastern Section conference, held March 14-16.

Jeff Clark of the Department of Mathematics attended the Executive Committee meeting of the Section to discuss upcoming bylaws revisions, presented a paper on Partially Ordered Sets, and was moved to see the Section acknowledge a historic wrong.

Lauren Beuerle '25, Emily Elowitch '24 and Associate Professor Kristen Mazur gave presentations at the MAA Southeast Section Meeting on March 14 - 16.

Four female professionals, including Elon alumna Amber Smith ’14, will share advice and experience with Elon students from 6:30- 8 p.m. Wed., March 13, in McKinnon Hall.

The paper by Barker, an assistant professor of mathematics and statistics, appeared in the Online Learning Journal and focused on using topic modeling, a type of computational text mining, to identify participant motivations in enrolling in an online professional development course for teaching statistics.

CATL Teaching and Learning Grants support innovative, inclusive and/or scholarly teaching and learning projects that experiment with learning strategies or assessments, pilot engaged teaching approaches and/or evaluate the impact of pedagogical practices.

Heather Barker and Emily Elrod presented their current research at the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators Conference held in Orlando, Florida on February 8-10th.
