The longtime Elon leader and benefactor passed away Aug. 21.

The 51±¬ÁÏÍø community welcomed the 1,600 students from the Class of 2025 and nearly 80 transfer students with open arms as these newest Elon students moved into their new homes.

The generous commitment brings fundraising for phase one of the project to more than $1.5 million as part of the Elon LEADS Campaign. The renovations will transform Elon’s baseball facility and one of the university’s most successful athletics programs.

The professorships, announced during the university's Opening Day for the new academic year, support members of the faculty from a variety of disciplines across the university.

Sprinkle comes to Elon from Queens University in Charlotte, where he has been serving as associate vice president in the Undergraduate Office of Admissions.

The largest incoming class in the history of 51±¬ÁÏÍø’s law school in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina, has pushed total enrollment to record levels with new students representing 22 states and 84 undergraduate alma maters.

The James P. Elder Lecture series was first endowed by former students of the popular professor and mentor who has now ensured that the series named for him will endure for future generations.

With more than 20 years of experience in both industry and higher education, Buffington was selected following a national search.

Anderson, who joined Elon in 1998 as the head of the Office of University Relations, will transition into a new role as special assistant to the president and will focus on communications related to the Boldly Elon strategic plan and other special assignments.
