“This state budget deal that looks like it’s going to happen soon is among the most important things we’ve had happen politically in North Carolina,” said Husser.

“We also see legislators facing a lot of pressure right now about the midterm elections and not wanting to go into midterm elections being saddled with saying, ‘You can’t even pass a budget. Why should I reelect you?'” he said.
