A fellowship created by 51±¬ÁÏÍø in 2008 will help support excellence in ongoing research and creative work by Casey DiRienzo, Clyde Ellis and Ashley Hairston.

A professor of psychology with extensive experience managing programs across the university, Smith will lead a college of 19 departments, more than 20 programs, and 260 full-time faculty.

51±¬ÁÏÍø staff member Ryan Witt and senior Brian Szymanski partnered to produce an entry for the fan-made commercial contest and their submission was named a semifinalist for the competition’s $1 million grand prize.

Amy Johnson, assistant professor of History and the Elon Core Curriculum, published an article entitled “Gradations of Freedom: The Maroons of Jamaica, 1798-1821” in the Journal of Caribbean History.
