Students in the yearlong documentary film production program gained behind-the-scenes access to Durham’s Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, one of the world’s leading showcases for nonfiction cinema.

During a study abroad program in Prague, Alex McCollum ’27 produced a short film as part of an intensive, hands-on filmmaking experience. The project has since gained traction on the festival circuit, earning multiple honors and nominations.

Co-produced by the Elon graduate, the feature documentary will screen at the 28th RiverRun International Film Festival in Winston-Salem on Saturday, April 18, at 3:30 p.m. and Friday, April 24, at 5 p.m.

The 7 p.m. screening in Turner Theatre marks a milestone production for Elon Student Television and showcases a student-led feature film years in the making.

The cinema and television arts major served as a technical director for a St. Louis Blues broadcast, helping execute a live NHL broadcast in a fast-paced control room.

The Elon graduate, an assistant producer at TBWA\Media Arts Lab, was honored for embodying her agency’s core values through teamwork, leadership and creative problem-solving. Through her work on prominent Apple campaigns and a team-first mindset, Young has rapidly set herself apart.

The student-run news organization earned national recognition at the Associated Collegiate Press National College Media Conference in San Francisco. The honors highlight the strength of Elon’s student journalism across print, broadcast, digital and design categories.

The third annual event, held March 5 in Snow Family Grand Atrium, showcased student projects and faculty research that advance inclusive storytelling and community engagement.

More than 130 students networked with employers — including a strong contingent of Elon alumni — during the annual networking event in the School of Communications.
