Stay informed throughout the Canvas transition with ongoing updates, resources, and support designed to guide you each step of the way.

As the Canvas transition continues, this update highlights summer support opportunities, important milestones, and resources available to support your progress.

Non-Academic Course Migration

Beyond academic courses, Moodle is also used across campus for departmental resources, committee work, project collaboration, and other shared spaces.

As Canvas becomes Elon’s learning management system, non-academic Moodle courses will need to transition to other university-supported solutions. In many cases, tools like SharePoint or Teams may be a better option.

Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT) can help identify the best long-term solution and support your transition. To get started, so we can learn more about your needs and begin the consultation process.

Summer Training Opportunities

Faculty and staff attend a Teaching and Learning Technologies workshop, seated at collaborative tables while viewing a presentation and video on a large screen. Participants engage with laptops and discussion materials in a bright, technology-rich learning environment.

Preparing courses for Canvas can take different amounts of time depending on your course design, content, and how you used Moodle. Summer provides an opportunity to explore Canvas, ask questions, and make progress at a pace that works for you. Planning ahead is advised, as the time needed to transition a course can vary based on its complexity, structure, and use of Moodle features.

Optional support opportunities will continue throughout the summer, whether you’re looking for help with a specific Canvas feature or would like dedicated time to work alongside colleagues and support staff.

  • Canvas Consultation Open Office Hours (Virtual) – Drop in via Zoom for help with course migration, Canvas features, troubleshooting, or other Canvas-related questions. TLT staff will be available to provide support and guidance.

  • Canvas Summer Office Hours with TLT and CATL (In-Person) – Join TLT and CATL at The Oak House for dedicated work time, course preparation support, and conversations about teaching, learning, and student engagement in Canvas.

  • Digital Learning Days – Thank you for the strong interest in Digital Learning Days. Due to demand, we have added a . DLD explores how Canvas can support teaching, course design, and student engagement. Participants collaborate with colleagues, share ideas and best practices, and make meaningful progress toward courses they feel prepared to teach in Fall 2026.

August & Planning Week Support

As we prepare for the start of the Fall 2026 semester, additional Canvas support opportunities will be available during August and Planning Week.

We’re currently planning an optional Canvas fundamentals session focused on navigation, course setup, and key tools for instructors who would like a refresher or are just beginning to engage with Canvas.

Student Access to Canvas

Students are expected to gain access to Canvas in mid-July as technical implementation of the system continues. Summer courses will continue in Moodle, and students will begin using Canvas for coursework when the university transitions to Canvas in Fall 2026.

Additional student-facing resources and support information will be shared through the Canvas Transition Hub as that transition approaches.
