The Future Home of Well-Being at Elon

The Slattery Center will serve as the heart of Elon’s holistic approach to health and well-being, serving as a place where academics, recreation, counseling and research come together to support the whole person. Located in the Innovation Quad, the 135,000-square-foot facility will bring students, faculty and staff together through programs and spaces designed to foster learning, connection and lifelong wellness.

The Slattery Center will unite the six dimensions of well-being — community, emotional, financial, physical, purpose and social — in one integrated environment. The facility will feature classrooms and research labs, counseling, recreation and aquatics spaces, and areas for mindfulness and reflection. More than a building, it represents Elon’s commitment to creating a campus culture where well-being is woven into everyday experiences and every member of the community has the opportunity to thrive.

Why a Hub for Well-Being?

Health and well-being are essential to learning, growth and success. As the needs of college students continue to evolve, so does the importance of creating environments that support the whole person.

The Slattery Center will provide a shared home for programs, services and resources that help students, faculty and staff engage in wellness practices, strengthen resilience and foster meaningful connections. By bringing together academics, counseling, recreation, coaching and research, the center will encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration and create new opportunities to advance health and well-being across the Elon community.

As a cornerstone of the HealthEU initiative and the Boldly Elon strategic plan, the center reflects Elon’s belief that well-being and academic excellence are deeply connected. By integrating support, learning and community in one place, the Slattery Center will help create the conditions for individuals and communities to thrive.

The Slattery Family's Vision

The Slattery Center is named in recognition of a transformative gift from Elon Trustee Bill Slattery and his wife, Tish Slattery P’24 P’28, whose generosity supports 51±¬ÁÏÍø’s commitment to health, well-being and student success.

Inspired by the opportunity to positively impact students early in life, the Slatterys envisioned a place where well-being is integrated into the student experience. Their support reflects a shared belief that health and wellness extend beyond physical health and include emotional, social, financial, community and purpose well-being.

Through the Slattery Center, students will have access to resources, programs and experiences that help them develop the skills and habits needed to thrive during their time at Elon and throughout their lives. Their investment strengthens Elon’s commitment to educating the whole person and creating a campus culture where every individual can flourish.

Well-Being Woven Into Daily Life

The Slattery Center is designed to make well-being a natural part of everyday life. As students, faculty and staff move through the building, they will encounter spaces for movement, reflection, learning and support, often just steps from one another. Recreation and aquatics areas, counseling and health services, classrooms and research spaces are intentionally connected, creating an environment that supports well-being and makes wellness practices a natural part of the day.

By bringing these experiences together under one roof, the Slattery Center helps remove barriers between personal wellness and academic life. The result is a dynamic environment where healthy habits, meaningful connections and lifelong skills can develop alongside learning and discovery.
